Set on a peaceful property with a private pond & views of the Swan Mountains, this distinctive getaway includes multiple living spaces designed for flexibility, privacy, & gathering — making it perfect for families, groups, or anyone looking for something beyond the ordinary.

At the heart of the property is the original Katie Kabin, a beautifully restored 126-year-old log cabin that seamlessly combines historic charm with modern updates. Inside, you’ll find a stunning, fully equipped kitchen with high-end appliances & granite countertops set against timeworn log walls. The main cabin also features a comfortable living space & access to the back deck, where you can relax, grill, & take in the peaceful pond & surrounding landscape.

Just across the breezeway, you’ll find additional spaces that make this property truly special. Above the garage sits The Crow’s Nest — a private primary suite offering sweeping 180-degree views of the pond, property, & Swan Mountains. This elevated retreat features a king bed, a cozy propane stove, a full bathroom with a restored claw-foot tub, & a small kitchenette/wet bar — perfect for quiet mornings or winding down in the evening.

Below, the Antler Annex provides two separate suites connected by a shared Jack-and-Jill bathroom. One suite includes a seating area, two twin beds, a lofted full bed, & a small kitchenette. The second suite offers a queen bed, its own seating area, a lofted punee (traditional Hawaiian bed), & another kitchenette space — creating comfortable accommodations for a variety of group setups.

The shared bathroom features heated floors, a large walk-in shower, & double sinks for added comfort.

Outside, guests can enjoy the spacious property, watch for local wildlife, or simply relax by the pond and take in the quiet surroundings. With plenty of driveway space, there’s room for multiple vehicles & trailers, making it easy to bring along your gear for year-round recreation.

Located just minutes from downtown Seeley Lake & close to the West Side Bypass trailhead, Katie Kabin offers easy access to hiking, biking, snowmobiling, & endless outdoor adventure — all while providing a peaceful, private place to return to.

A Bit of History…

Katie Kabin has a history as rich as the Montana landscape surrounding her. Though her official registration date is listed as 1900, she is believed to be much older. Originally built as a homesteader & trapper’s cabin in the town of Woodworth—now long gone—Katie was more than just a home. She also served as a schoolhouse for local children until a new school was built in the 1930s.

With her schoolhouse days behind her, Katie was moved to an area known as Kozy Korner, a stop for travelers in need of gas, food, & good company. Where she served as a storage facility & even a chicken coop for the restaurant. During this time, the current owner's grandfather, purchased the cabin with funds left to him by his grandmother, Katie, & named it in her honor.

In the 1970s, Katie was relocated back to the family’s Black Canyon Ranch to serve as a second home, offering a retreat for their future generations. Years later, when the ranch was sold, she was carefully relocated, once more, this time to her current resting place on Boy Scout Road, on the north end of Seeley Lake.

In 2018, Katie underwent a full restoration, returning to a single-room layout with a modern kitchen, dining area, living room, & a half bath. Her original colors were revived, fresh chinking was added for insulation, & two purlins were installed to support heavy winter snows. While the garage & additions have evolved, her core structure remains true to her original craftsmanship.

Katie still stands strong among the towering trees & peaceful surroundings. She may be old, but she’s full of stories & she’s ready to be part of yours!
